Okay, with two weeks before the big V Day, you have everything you need to plan the dinner — or the brunch, or both! – of your Valentine dreams. In the menu, I’ve also given meals to round out the entire day. Day after is President’s Day, so if you have off from work, take advantage of the time to feed yourself and a loved one well.
Feel free to improvise. Improv and choices are what feeding yourself at Stop Blogging And Cook is all about. Crudites with hummus or salsa is always good for feeding each other. And it won’t fill you up so that you’re too full to move, if you catch my drift. For something more exotic, why not make some Forbidden Rice Salad to have beside a sandwich or just, “Hey, you want to check this out?  I made it myself!”
A fat sandwich, especially when made lovingly, on good hearty bread, brimming with greens & meat & a little cheese is at once satisfying and filling. Cheese, Apple & Sopresetta is, essentially, a sandwich you can feed each other along with juicy winter citrus. Spread a blanket on the floor in front of a fire – or old movie – and have a winter picnic. Very romantic.
REMEMBER:
Having food in the fridge is more fun than not. And if you do, you won’t have to budge if the weather is miserable. You can stay in and enjoy each other with good food and a cup of hot cocoa or some mulled cider, with or without rum. It’s a long weekend. Take advantage. Enjoy yourselves!
