THERE’S NO DOWNSIDE TO STAYING INFORMED

It is impossible for a man to learn what he thinks he already knows.  ~Epictetus (55-135 CE)

I’ve been reading Marion Nestle’s articles recently.  Ms Nestle a professor in the nutrition, food studies and public health department at New York University, writes a monthly column in the San Francisco Chronicle, and was cited often in Michael Pollan’s book In Defense of Food:  An Eater’s Manifesto.   I urge you to check her out; she is up on the most recent food-related discussions.

  1. The soda pop tax.
  2. The higher cost for a smaller can of Coke.
  3. Kellog’s rescinds their immunity (health) claims on Coco Puffs.
  4. The safety of raising children in a vegetarian and vegan environment.
  5. The salt debate:  Can you imagine the notion that some think that reducing salt has a downside?
  6. How the recent Supreme Court decision to allow unlimited corporate spending on election campaigns affects you.
