LIFE GOES ON
EMOTION, n. A prostrating disease caused by a
determination of the heart to the head.
It is sometimes accompanied by a copious discharge of
hydrated chloride of sodium from the eyes.

VALENTINES DAY AFTER
So, the big day is over. How did you fare? Tears of joy or something less? Were expectations so high — be it with a significant other, spouse, sibling, parent, potential partner or family — that any snafu was bound to plunge the day into a funk of disappointment? Did you plan ahead, taking on an amount that was manageable, allowing you to hit most of the anticipated notes? Was it appropriate for the current state of the relationship? Answer only to yourself, because it will be helpful in planning subsequent heartfelt revelry. This is how great novels are written!
More important, and closer to the real point of the day, are these ponderables:
- Did you have fun?
- Did the time solidify your relationship?
- Did you find out anything surprising about the other person?
- Did your time together advance your feelings for each other, drawing you closer together?
These are the ideas behind celebrating that special bond. Romance is nothing more than stimulating and securing that bond.
TELL ME YOUR STORIES
Good, bad or ambivalent, I’d like to hear comments about how your February 14th went — regardless of the outcome — even if spent alone or with good friends, avoiding expectations altogether. A sense of humor is crucial in preventing memories of excruciating proportion. Cheers!

Spousal Unit & I had a marvelous day … with dinner at the restaurant that catered our wedding. We didn’t get quite the ambiance we had hoped, but the meal was delicious. So, how was YOURS?
And, I love it that you quote Ambrose Bierce … I *heart* the Devil’s Dictionary.
This Eclectic Life´s last blog ..What’s Afoot
You are an optimist, not letting your table at dinner ruin the evening. I curled up with the last 100 pages of a good book (always the best part) and chatted with my Seattle peep about raw chocolate pudding. Then buzzed around the kitchen with a good movie and a pot of chicken soup simmering in the background, salmon poaching on the stove and homemade frozen yogurt in the freezer.
