Place ice cream into individual dishes & cherry sauce into serving bowl.  Ignite the Kirsch by slowly touching a lighted match to it; pour onto hot cherry sauce.  Spoon blazing cherries over ice cream.  Work quickly, flames will extinguish before you know it.

Can be done, as the alcohol burns off when Kirsch is heated.  Would certainly be an interesting change from yellow birthday cake.
